Muncie Acorn Festival branding was a typography-based project that refreshed the identity of a young but growing local festival in Muncie, IL. Home to only 200 residents, this festival attracts over 100 vendors and activities, making it a vital community event. I created a cohesive branding system that included a wordmark, monogram, patterns, a mascot, posters, a schedule, tote bags, and social media mockups—all designed using Adobe Illustrator.
The star of the rebrand was Archie Oakley, an acorn mascot brought to life as a plushie by a local crochet artist. Archie became a social media sensation, visiting featured businesses to promote the festival. The design extended beyond digital applications, with yard signs, a large wooden road sign I painted by hand, and a spray-painted hay bale featuring Archie welcoming visitors.
This year marked the first time the festival used my branding, which combined vintage charm with a modern edge to appeal to all ages. The goal was to draw in visitors and elevate the festival’s presence in the community, which I think they did well, especially with very little help from me on the marketing side of using the rebrand. The new branding not only increased engagement but also laid a strong foundation for the festival's growth in the years to come.
